WHY IT TASTES DIFFERENT
A SCRATCH KITCHEN
We're a scratch kitchen, which means we make it ourselves — from the sauces to the sides to the hand-crafted finger steaks and hand-battered chicken strips that come out of our fryers.
Nearly everything on our menu starts from raw ingredients in our own kitchen. Our house-made sauces — Rocky's Sauce, Secret Weapon, Spicy Ranch, Chili Aioli, Hot Honey, and the rest — are mixed by hand, not poured from a jug. Our pickles are made in house. Our onion rings are beer-battered here using a local craft beer. Our finger steaks and chicken strips are hand-crafted and hand-battered to order, and everything that fries goes into 100% beef tallow for the kind of flavor and crunch you can't fake. Even that upside-down ciabatta bun — our signature — gets flipped and grilled by hand.
When we don't make something ourselves, we go looking for the most local supplier we can find. That's not a slogan — it's a standard we're always pushing further. Our buffalo comes from Brown's Buffalo Ranch, just two miles up the road. Our Wagyu beef comes from Desert Mountain, about 60 miles out. Our tortillas come from Rodriguez Bakery, right here in the community. And we're constantly working to source more of what we serve from the growers, ranchers, and makers closest to home.
It takes more time and more work to do it this way. We think it's worth it — because you can taste the difference, and because supporting our neighbors is part of who The Rock Store has always been.
